Fakuma 2018

The LEHVOSS Group presents news in hall B1-1109 and celebrates 35 years of LUVOCOM®

This year the LEHVOSS Group is celebrating 35 years of LUVOCOM® high-performance compounds: we are taking the opportunity to celebrate this anniversary with you at Fakuma. Come and visit us in hall B1-1109.

The oldest brand in the Customized Polymer Materials business unit can look back on a very successful period. With tailor-made thermoplastic high-performance compounds, the product series meets the challenging requirements of industry. Focal areas here are applications in the fields of tribology, structure, high temperature and conductivity. Additional product series have become established in the meantime, and, for the past six years, they have included products for 3D printing with the brands LUVOSINT®  and LUVOCOM® 3F. The LEHVOSS Group supplies technical compounds for industrial applications with the brand LUVOTECH®. Rounding off the portfolio is the LUVOCOM® P product line, with powders for electrostatic coating.

The LEHVOSS Group offers high-performance polymers for injection molding, extrusion, 3D printing and electrostatical coating.

LUVOBATCH PA BA 1001/1002

Weight reduction as a means of conserving our resources is a fundamental constituent in the contemporary design and dimensioning of technical components in many industries, and particularly so in the automotive and aviation sectors. Polyamides with reinforcing materials such as glass fibres, carbon fibres and minerals are becoming increasingly important in the automotive industry above all. Using the LUVOBATCH PA BA 1001/1002 blowing agent system, it is now possible to reduce the weight of these materials by up to 30% and simultaneously maintain the loss of mechanical properties at a low level. As an example, foamed components produced with this system exhibited a performance factor for bending stress in the range from 1 to 1.3. Consequently, the change in flexural strength is smaller than the reduction in weight.

In addition to reducing weight, this endothermic blowing agent system specially adapted to polyamides enables sink marks and contraction cavities to be avoided. Delamination in components subject to high mechanical stress, which may arise during the addition of masterbatch based on polyethylene or universal carriers, is reduced or prevented by the use of a special polyamide as the carrier system in LUVOBATCH PA BA 1001/1002. The system can be used in all common processing techniques.

WMK Plastics GmbH – Plastics granulates and special compounds

WMK, the subsidiary specializing in technical compounds, has reacted to the increasing requirements from customers and significantly extended its works premises in Solingen during 2017. With the new 2,000m2 production hall, the development competencies will be strengthened.

The new building houses a significantly enlarged quality and development laboratory with affiliated injection moulding and pilot-plant extruder facilities. This makes it possible to continue guaranteeing rapid development times and sample availability.

Located in the new building is a laboratory extruder (Leistritz ZSE 27), equipped with detached feeding units for rapid changing of product and weighing device. This extruder operates with a rotational speed of up to 1,200 rpm and has several side feeding units that can be docked on at various positions.

Plans made back in the concept development phase included an additional standard production extruder with a larger diameter. With an optimized design of the length of processing section, this is intended for both strand cutting and underwater pelletizing. Both provide the basis for guaranteeing the scale-up to other extruders.

The extruders are located in close proximity to the laboratory so that trial production runs can be assessed in the presence of customers.

In addition, the building contains the seminar rooms of the WMK academy, which is for purposes of continuing employee training.

The LEHVOSS Group under the management of Lehmann&Voss&Co. is a group of companies in the chemicals sector that develops, produces and markets chemical and mineral specialities for various industrial clients. Lehmann&Voss&Co., Hamburg, was founded in 1894 as a trading company. Since that time, the owner-run company has evolved into a powerful global organization – with long-standing connections to prominent, mainly foreign suppliers with their own production sites.LUVOCOM® high-performance compounds as well as the 3D printing materials LUVOSINT® and LUVOCOM® 3F extend the range of applications for plastics and ensure that the products produced from them in many industries are able to reliably fulfil their function, even when subject to stringent requirements. The materials with exactly defined properties are based on almost all available thermoplastics and are tailor-made to individual customer requirements.
Our LUVOBATCH® business unit is an internationally operating partner of the plastics processing industry and develops, produces and sells high-quality and customer-specific masterbatches and additives. Our experienced and committed team of experts provides a high level of flexibility and individual service. LUVOBATCH® combines its functions so that development, production, laboratory, pilot plant and sales are all under one roof. We offer our clients the maximum degree of individuality and speed of innovation.
WMK Plastics is a company in the LEHVOSS Group and has been supplying a broad range of technical plastics in various quality levels and recycling solutions since 1984. Its Solingen site produces cost-optimized products for customers throughout Europe using state-of-the-art technology. In addition to producing its own brands, WMK also operates as a contractor for compounding and grinding.
